Malika Favre is a French illustrator and art director based in East London. She grew up in Paris, where she studied graphic design before moving to London to further her career. Having joined Airside in 2006, a highly acclaimed multidisciplinary design studio, Malika developed her talents and began to hone her signature illustrative style. With her reputation growing she left Airside in 2011 to pursue a career as a freelance illustrator.
Five years later she is now established as one of the most sought after commercial artists around. Working on projects spanning editorial, advertising and publishing her prestigious client list includes the likes of Vogue, The New Yorker, Penguin and Gucci. She’s also enjoyed huge success with her solo exhibitions including ‘Hide & Seek’ in 2012 and has a growing reputation amongst graphic art collectors for her self-initiated limited edition print work.
Malika’s approach to illustration is all about beautiful simplicity. She strives to find the essence of her subject by using as few lines and coloursas possible, paring things down to convey the core of the idea. Geometric patterns, the natural curves of the body and the way the two interact are all dominant reoccurring themes in her work.
